Manitoba's most difficult hike? Sounds like a pretty wild tour at first. In fact, the Hunt Lake Trail is primarily an incredibly beautiful hike with granite cliffs, swimming lakes , and a surprising amount of up and down.
Along the way I see bald eagles, a funny bird that looks like a chicken, and squirrels.

Key Facts about the Hunt Lake Trail

My tip: Bring your swimwear
Just under two hours from Winnipeg, the wilderness begins. The Hunt Lake Trail leads in a fun up and down, over granite boulders, tree roots and narrow forest paths along the eponymous Hunt Lake.
The trail is considered the most challenging hike in Whiteshell Provincial Park and one of the most difficult hikes in Manitoba. However, those accustomed to alpine terrain will likely find it a varied hike with some steeper sections.
In several places you have to use your hands and climb over rocks. But that's precisely what makes the trail so varied.
Lakes, rocks and bathing bays
The constant views of Hunt Lake and West Hawk Lake are particularly beautiful. Small paths lead down to the water at regular intervals, where crystal-clear lakes and flat rocks await , perfect for a break or a swim .
The path itself runs partly directly along the shore, then again through wooded sections with overgrown passages and over rugged granite rocks.
