Germany/Black Forest: What can you do during Blueberry Week in Enzklösterle?
From July 20 to 26, 2026, Blueberry Week will take place in Enzklösterle in the Northern Black Forest in Germany. There will be guided hikes, including the Blueberry Trail, as well as food and drink, events, and concerts. I've tested it out.
“Off to the blueberries” is the motto.
At almost 900 meters, the bushes are thick, and forester Waidelich knows the best spots. "This spot is perfect, but don't pass this place on ," he warns me.

Desert in Canada? The Great Sand Hills in Saskatchewan
The earth is flat.
On my drive from Calgary to Saskatchewan, all I can see is flat land. Combine harvesters are making their rounds on the horizon. Scattered abandoned houses and grain silos stand to the right and left of the road. A huge cloud of dust trails behind me. This really is the Wild West.
As soon as I climb the first dunes, I know the long drive has been worth it.
I am completely alone.
Just me and the desert.

Along the way I see bald eagles, a funny bird that looks like a chicken, and squirrels.
